Today's been spectacularly unproductive, so I think I'll take a hint and go to bed early. Start pushing my wake up time forward, so eventually I can wake up at 5 without kicking and screaming.
sapphire2309: (heart)
Hi! You can call me Tanya. I prefer she/her pronouns, though my appearance is just androgynous enough that I can be mistaken for a guy. My preferred word for my sexuality is sapphic. (I feel like I'm not gay enough to be a lesbian but too gay to be bi, so this is the in between.) If you're wondering about the journal title, Tanya isn't my wallet name. She's my online self, and she's my audience, as far as I'm concerned.

I post a hell of a lot about varied mental health crap behind an f-lock. I write for myself, especially when I write about my beliefs and thought processes. Lately, this journal has been a badly kept record of realizations about my mental processes. I hope all this introspection leads to some changes, no matter how slight.

Posts that aren't quite as personal (see: fannish interests, music, media) are typically posted outside of the f-lock. I don't know how often I post publicly, but there must be enough entries by now to give you a sense of my general style of writing. Journaling? Idk.

I write poetry sometimes. I keep those words at afirelullaby. This tumblr is very sedate and organised.

I also have another tumblr - sapphire2309. This tumblr is a typical tumblr tumblr. It is an emotional rollercoaster and also completely random. Kinda like me.

When the muse strikes, I write fanfiction. My main fandoms right now are Person of Interest and White Collar, though I have written in other fandoms, and posted thoughts about other shows. The best place to browse my fanfic would be at AO3, where I post as sapphire2309. The second best would be the various fandom tags on this journal, which I use only for fanwork and not random fannish thoughts.

My friending policy is fairly random. I add you to my circle if I like what you post. I give you access if I feel like I know you at least a little. I'm not comfortable accepting journal access from someone I haven't given access to, and vice versa. But if we have interests in common, feel free to reach out!

[Background for you if you magically got here without being linked to it - I wrote this up as part of my fandom stocking post when I asked for music recs, and then realized that it was a bit, ahem, long.]

[Oh, and yes, I have a stocking! I'll make sure to link to it when it's up :D]

Genre talk. )

This brings me to the conclusion of this long winded ramble on music I love. I hope it helped! And even if it didn't, I hope you had fun!
sapphire2309: (Diana 2)
Because I am fucking sick of not writing, I'm throwing out a remix of the Music Is My Boyfriend meme, which I adore.

Here are twenty songs that I think would make good fic fodder. Pick a song (or a number, if you don't know any of them c: ), pair it with a character, and leave it in a comment! No repeated characters, please c:

1. Left Handed Kisses - Andrew Bird ft. Fiona Apple.
2. If Things Were Perfect - Moby - Elizabeth - [livejournal.com profile] sandy79
3. Extraordinary Machine - Fiona Apple
4. Sajda - from the My Name Is Khan soundtrack
5. Medicine - Daughter
6. Mar Jawaan - from the Fashion soundtrack
7. Nothing & Nowhere - Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton
8. Jugni - from the Cocktail soundtrack
9. Where I Come From - Maria Mena - Diana - [livejournal.com profile] china_shop
10. Various Storms & Saints - Florence + The Machine
11. In The Waiting Line - Zero 7 - Sara - Anonymous
12. Penguin - Christina Perri
13. Baatein - Fuzön
14. Too Late - M83 - Peter - [livejournal.com profile] sandy79
15. Rust Or Gold - Jill Andrews - Neal - [livejournal.com profile] treonb
16. Last Kiss - Taylor Swift - Kate - [livejournal.com profile] sandy79
17. Elastic Heart - Sia
18. Badi Dheere Jali - from the soundtrack of Ishqiya
19. Losing Grip - Avril Lavigne
20. Thinking Out Loud - Emiliana Torrini
sapphire2309: (Kate)
Title: Tomorrow Is A Different Day
Characters (Pairings): Kate Moreau, Neal Caffrey, Peter Burke, Alexandra Hunter, Vincent Adler, Garrett Fowler (Kate/Neal)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 4990
Spoilers: For Kate's storyline through seasons 1 and 2
Disclaimer: White Collar is Jeff Eastin's brainchild. Not mine.
Summary: Kate's spent her whole life investing in her tomorrow.
Author's Note: This is for [livejournal.com profile] runthecon, for the prompt 'tomorrow is another day' from [livejournal.com profile] aragarna.
Title's from Avril Lavigne's Tomorrow. There are lyrics from Halsey's album BADLANDS all over the story. They serve as sort of introductions to the various little disconnected pieces. So this isn't exactly a songfic, buuut it kinda is.
Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] reve_silencieux for the speedy proofread and the cheerleading!
I should mention that this is a slightly old idea, and it had around 300-400 words written in advance, but this thing be looong (LOOK AT THAT WORDCOUNT, GUYS), so I don't think it makes that much of an impact? I mean, I knew the direction the story was headed in, but I had very few actual words written in advance, so. I hope that's okay?

As seems to perpetually be the case with me, this story isn't complete. Yes, you read that right. Almost 5k words and this monster wants more. Piece of shit.
Slightly spoilery content note-like thing (spoils a character arc): I know the first sentence is what it is, but Kate isn't vilified in this story. She loves Neal. She means well. She's allowed to be angry, and think freely, and do things that may hurt Neal without her realizing it. Peter, who is the antagonist of her story, is on the receiving end of much of her anger, but that doesn't make either of the two characters evil. They're just different people who happen to have made terrible first impressions on each other. Not every human on the planet has to get along like a house on fire. And finally, I'm sorry if Peter seems out of character to you, but I stand by his characterization in this fic.
I kinda sorta borrowed the "ornamental, not functional" idea from this really painful insult delivered by the President to the First Lady on Scandal. I wouldn't have mentioned it, but I couldn't find any alternate wording, so. :P
This is a bit of a bricolage, but I enjoyed writing it, so. :D

Also, it's 2 am, I haven't given this fic my usual final once-over because I'd like to sleep, please forgive mistakes and clumsy phrasing and such. ETA - Edited!

She loves him less than he loves her. )

Title: Lose And You Will Answer To Me
Characters (Pairings): Alan Woodford
Rating: R (profanity)
Word Count: 407
Spoilers: S06E06 (Au Revoir)
Disclaimer: White Collar is Jeff Eastin's brainchild. Not mine.
Summary: Alan Woodford is a very patient man.
Author's Note: This fic was born out of a conversation with [livejournal.com profile] reve_silencieux. We were discussing why Woodford was such an unconvincing villain, and then my brain went, 'Wait, maybe...', and then this happened. Also because of Elr's promptfest. There was one prompt - Woodford: Games - that I really wanted to write for, because it made me realize that barely anyone's written him in any significant way. (sapphire2309, champion of neglected characters. Sometimes I feel like slapping myself.) The only problem was, I didn't know what to write. Which meant that the prompt stayed with me, at the back of my head. And now I know what to write! And now I'll shut up.
No, wait. Title from The Ruler And The Killer by Kid Cudi. Okay, now.

He's been waiting for a while now. )
sapphire2309: (Sara 2)
Title: Just A Little Bit Stronger
Characters (Pairings): Sara Ellis, OC
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 550
Spoilers: Parts of Sara's backstory.
Warnings: Discussion of an eating disorder.
Disclaimer: White Collar is Jeff Eastin's brainchild. Not mine.
Summary: The first item Sara recovered.
Author's Note: Title from Just A Little Bit by Maria Mena. For Day 1 of [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon, for the prompt Origins/Beginnings, a little Sara backstory. No guarantees that I'm doing all the days.
I don't feel like getting into Sara's head right now, so this is mostly dialogue.
This was supposed to be just humour, but my brain had other plans. Sorry.

"Did you get it?" )
sapphire2309: (writing)
I can only write in present tense. What even is this?
sapphire2309: (Sara)
I interviewed Sara Ellis for Womenverse's Challenge #5 - Interview. I could have stopped at 20 questions, but I kept answering questions and ended up at like 53. Ah well.

Core questions taken from the 'Twenty Questions' and 'Gloves Off' sections on this page. Follow ups were made up on the spot. Some of the answers are direct quotes from various episodes - I didn't think anything else would fit.

This interview has spoilers up to and including the Season 4 finale of White Collar. Set in Sara's office in London, a short while after the events of the season finale (no more than six weeks). There are multiple references to Neal. This is the only time I used his name.

Total word count is about 1350.

Part of the Amis Amants 'verse. For more in this verse, click here.

[livejournal.com profile] aragarna made art for this fic! See it below :D

This is long. And probably repetitive. But it was fun! )

Day 17 - A song that you hear often on the radio

Luckily, I just listened to the radio today, so I don't know about often, but I did hear these songs on the radio, so yeah. Hope that counts!

one

Stay by Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko. OMG, this is the first time in this meme that there's a featured artist. How did that happen?

Anyhow. Beautiful song, lovely voices.

youtube )
lyrics )

two

Addicted To You by Avicii. Not much to say about this song, except that through it, I discovered Audra Mae, who has a really fabulous voice (she gave uncredited vocals for the song)

youtube )
lyrics )

...do you get the feeling that I rushed through this?

Part two. The Matt Bomer Is Hot part. The only reason why you're here.

Just when I was clinging to the last of my fading crush on Matt Bomer and wondering if I was really, truly, done with him (major crisis over the mast few days, I was panicking big time), I came across these pictures, and I kid you not, he fucked with my breathing. I;m not breathless, breathless isn't the right word. It's more like I'm incredibly conscious of every breath I take. I cannot believe I haven't seen these before. I just... LOOK AT HIM.

cut for MB's sexiness. MB's sexiness in this requires a warning. )

I can't believe I ever even doubted the crush.

Maybe it's the shadows, maybe it's his brood. He's just... really, really sexy in these pictures. Whew.

I'm gonna... go feast my eyes a little more.

afterthought - hmmm, addicted to you is really perfect in this context, isn't it?
sapphire2309: (Sapphire)
Day 14 - A song that no one would expect you to love

That's a tough one. I'm fond of most genres of music, and the ones I don't enjoy I avoid like a teetotaler. I can only think of Emika - I hated dubstep with a vengeance before I heard her sound. But again, I haven't ventured out of my sake little Emika corner, haven't explored dubstep any more than that. Lights Go Down by Emika is absolutely lovely, and I suppose it qualifies as dubstep, though I'm not entirely sure.

...okay, quick google, it's deep house, but house is another genre I haven't quite explored, so it still counts.

...okay, checked the comments on the vid I embedded, it counts as both house and dubstep. I was right!

([livejournal.com profile] reve_silencieux, i'm aware that i'm addicted to research, stop cackling in the background)

youtube )
(no lyrics, not much vocal. this is not normal for me.)

I guess Polica could count for this day too. Their sound is very alt rock and synthpop (Hurts is usually filed under the same genres) but their sound is not the kind I usually chase. Violent Games by them is pretty awesome.

youtube )
lyrics. note - very repetitive )
sapphire2309: (Kate revenant)
Seriously. Someone hit me in the face with something. A freaking month. Really?

I'd blame exams, but that's clearly not the issue here. I got massively stuck on [livejournal.com profile] theatregirl7299's prompt 'Perfect imperfections', mostly because of my very distinct ideas of perfection and imperfection. I mean, I can find beauty in almost any physical imperfection, but I wanted to do something different. Me and my stupid head. I'll probably write her something nicer soon.

Anywho. List of fills.

[livejournal.com profile] turtlebaby_02 requested Peter - Lost

[livejournal.com profile] aragarna requested Birthday. Peter/El & Neal.

[livejournal.com profile] angelita26 requested Neal, pillow/blanket fort

[livejournal.com profile] embroiderama requested Neal - cold

[livejournal.com profile] theatregirl7299 requested Peter - perfect imperfections

[livejournal.com profile] scarym1 requested Mozzie - as they search for Neal, mozzie ponders his complicated relationship with Peter.

[livejournal.com profile] kanarek13 requested Neal - celestial tremor and inspired a cracky/dystopian AU. That might get written. Someday. I hope. FX.
sapphire2309: (June)
Euh.

I have not been writing. Or editing. Or commenting on half the things I normally would have commented on.

Help me out a leetle? Thanksh :D

In the comments, leave me the name of a character and a noun or a phrase (place, emotion, thing, whatever). You can also specify a story from my masterlist, if you'd like, and I have a brand new cotton candy bingo card! I'll write you a drabble. Or more than a drabble (at least, I hope).

(ganked from [livejournal.com profile] angelita26)
sapphire2309: (Elizabeth)
Title: Float Down (Like Autumn Leaves)
Characters (Pairings): Peter Burke, Elizabeth Burke, Neal Caffrey, Sara Ellis (Peter/Elizabeth/Neal/Sara)
Rating: PG
Word Count: ~900
Disclaimer: White Collar is Jeff Eastin’s brainchild. Not mine.
Summary: The quiet little ways in which four people manage the art of fitting together.
Author’s Note: This was written to stuff gala_apples's stocking (DW user).
Title's from Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran.
For the prompt 'heatstroke' on my [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo card.
Sometime while writing fills for fandom_stocking, OT4 became my new crack.
There is much domesticity.

Most times, it's easier to fit four people together than it is to fit three. )
sapphire2309: (Neal 2)
Title: Inside I'm Such A Mess
Characters (Pairings): Peter Burke, Elizabeth Burke, Neal Caffrey (Peter/Elizabeth)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100 X 3
Spoilers: Minor for Pilot (S01E01)
Disclaimer: White Collar is Jeff Eastin’s brainchild. Not mine.
Summary: Peter's up early. Elizabeth can't see. Neal is resigned.
Author’s Note: This one was surprisingly easy to write. Once I started, that is.
For the prompt 'Velvet' over at [livejournal.com profile] whitecollar100
Title from Invisible by Skylar Grey.
This may not make enough sense as a standalone.
Part 2 - Tiptoe, Tiptoe, Around You Constantly

Peter wakes up early, much earlier than he usually does. )

Part 4 - Shelter From The Storm
sapphire2309: (Sara)
So since there's a gun to my head- I mean, since a very dear friend has so kindly requested, a meme!

Comment and I'll answer the following questions for you :D

1. Tell you why I friended you. If I remember.
2. Associate you with something.
3. Tell you something I like about you.
4. Tell you a memory I have of you.
5. Associate you with a character/pairing.
6. Ask something I've always wanted to know about you.
7. Tell you my favorite userpic of yours.
8. Tell you that you must post this in your own journal

Of course, that depends on my rather shady memory...
